SPS IPC Drives (November 27-29 in Nuremberg, Germany), covers the entire spectrum of smart and digital automation - from simple sensors to intelligent solutions, from what is feasible today to the vision of a comprehensively digitized industrial world. The focus is on practical solutions in areas like control technology, electric drive systems, HMI devices, industrial communication, software, mechanical infrastructure and sensor technology. Here's a preview of this year's trade fair:
Mitsubishi Electric will present a variety of technologies for enabling digital transformation in manufacturing. As a solution partner for smart manufacturing, Mitsubishi Electric will be showing applications for engineering, production and maintenance.
Engineering: intelligent integration
The latest version of Mitsubishi Electric's SCADA system, MAPS 4, enables shorter development times in engineering. Using object-oriented functions, MAPS 4 can integrate and visualize both the company's own devices and third-party equipment very quickly and easily. The Life Cycle Management tool also enables cloud connection and high flexibility due to its scalability.
Manufacturing: smart automation
For the manufacturing sector, Mitsubishi Electric offers solutions that allow intelligent automation to be achieved at various levels of production: integrative robotics technology, for example with the current SCARA robot package for beginners, the Linear Transfer System (LTS) with Smart Carriages for optimized intralogistics, as well as the comprehensive MEnergy concept for more efficient energy management.
Maintenance: clever system management
Maintenance in the era of industry 4.0 means value retention through predictive maintenance. In addition to an integrated AR application for robot maintenance, Mitsubishi Electric offers the "GOT Drive" solution for machine diagnostics. This enables servo controllers and frequency inverters to exchange friction and vibration data directly with the GOT2000 series HMI. With the "GOT Mobile" function, production data can also be queried from any location and alarm messages can be received via mobile phone, tablet or PC. With these and many other solutions, Mitsubishi Electric is supporting companies in planning and implementing smart manufacturing projects. (eu3a.mitsubishielectric.com/fa)
The decentralized drive components from NORD are freely configurable and can be flexibly adjusted to various applications. Their areas of application range from conveyor technology and intralogistics through applications in the packaging and food industry to pump applications. The NORDAC LINK field distributor series is available as a frequency inverter (up to 7.5 kW) and also as a motor starter (up to 3 kW). The high plug-in capability translates into fast and easy installation of the units. Commissioning and servicing of the system is performed quickly with the integrated maintenance switch and the local manual control facility. The NORDAC FLEX inverter (up to 22 kW) is equipped with an integrated PLC and positioning control POSICON – just like the NORDAC LINK. The PLC integrated into the inverters can reduce the load on the higher level control and enables a modular automation concept. It is able to process data from connected sensors and actuators and, if necessary, it directly initiates a sequence control. The motor-mounted NORDAC FLEX frequency inverter is modular scalable from batch size 1 and offers multiple options regarding functional security.
Cost reduction through standardization
In addition to intelligent networking in drive technology, special economical solutions are also often required which, for example, can be achieved through a reduced number of versions. With its LogiDrive systems, Nord also offers service and maintenance friendly plug & play technology. These consist of energy-efficient, standardised IE4 geared motors, 2-stage helical bevel gear units and decentralized frequency inverters to ensure optimized processes and costs.
Configure your drive technology online
In the customer portal myNORD customers can configure their required drive solution from Nord’s standard product portfolio on their own: simply, conveniently and quickly. Due to the clear interface, explicit structure and intuitive navigation, the platform is highly user-friendly. Offers are generated directly and the current order and delivery status can be tracked at all times. 3D models, dimension sheets and outline drawings are available for all standard products.
New Product: Service with APP
With the NORDCON APP and the corresponding Bluetooth stick “NORDAC ACCESS BT”, the company created a mobile commissioning and service solution for all Nord drives. The dashboard-based visualization is useful for drive monitoring and fault diagnosis. Parametrization of drives is easily feasible with a Help function and rapid access to parameters. The app also offers other convenient functions such as backup, recovery and oscilloscope. (www.nord.com)
The EC-i 30 with integrated electronics is suitable for applications in which efficiency and reliability are of prime importance – for example pump and fan drives. The simple commissioning process for this motor will be appreciated by customers who prefer to avoid motion control, but still want to enjoy the advantages of a brushless motor.
The ECX Speed 6 is a new addition to the ECX series. With a diameter of 6 millimeters, the BLDC motor is primarily destined for medical technology. Its ironless winding permits speeds of up to 100,000 rpm. The ENX 16 EASY XT is another brand new addition to Maxon’s product portfolio. The XT version of the EASY encoder family is designed for extreme conditions and withstands temperatures from -55 to + 125°C.
In addition, Roboy will make an appearance at Maxon's trade fair stand. The humanoid robot – driven by Maxon Motors – is modelled on human anatomy. Its tendon-based drive technology gives Roboy the ability to move like a human and react to his environment.
Visitors to the Maxon stand at SPS IPC Drives will also learn how the high-quality components can be combined into one system. The intelligent system solutions will be presented on a stand area which, at 108 square meters, has again grown considerably compared to previous years – matching the international significance of this leading trade fair for electrical automation.
