From March 7 -11, suppliers, engineers, manufacturers and service providers representing off-highway, construction, factory automation, power transmission, machine tools and controls presented new advances, innovations and technologies to improve the performance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and applications at IFPE 2017. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the technologies and products featured in Las Vegas:
Schaeffler
The company displayed its X-life products and Generation C deep groove ball bearings, an innovative PWG differential roller screw, and an array of hydraulic components, including Schaeffler’s needle and cradle bearings, tripod rollers, piston rings, Triondur tribological coating systems and SmartCheck, a breakthrough condition-monitoring device that fits in the palm of your hand. Freudenberg Sealing Technologies
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies displayed its latest fluid power and accumulator technologies and expertise at IFPE. Freudenberg conducted daily technical presentations at its booth during the show. These 10-minute presentations highlighted the new materials, new processes and new strategies Freudenberg is using to address evolving industry challenges. Topics discussed included the development of an innovative diaphragm accumulator design and assembly process, an understanding of contamination ingress into hydraulic cylinders through alternative, innovative test methods, innovative cassette seal designs for speed, axial movement, and contamination, high performance plastic thrust bearings and advanced off-highway emission strategies. Bonfiglioli
Bonfiglioli recently announced the development of wheel-traction drives for the 600 series specifically designed for Tigon Technology backhoe loaders manufactured by Huddig. Each of the special four-wheel traction drives is capable of reaching an output torque of 40.000 Nm, and is driven by a liquid cooled 30 kW electric motor. The independent control of each wheel gives the opportunity for the backhoe loaders to be driven better on slippery surfaces. The Bonfiglioli 610 drives also increase the precision of the machine, making the maneuverability easier in tight spaces, for example in building sites located at city centers. (www.bonfiglioli.com)
Parker
Parker’s EQA (Electric Flow Amplifier) EcoFormance technology represents one of the next significant advancements in load sensing valves. By automatically adapting the meter-out pressure to the load conditions, machine control is greatly improved by EQA technology. This is most notably useful for functions with slew or jib movements, or digger arms with over-center movement. Used in hydraulic systems found in mining, forest and construction machines, this technology offers OEMs a lower risk and the gains in doing so are well defined: in tested applications, a 15 percent productivity increase and 22 percent fuel savings results. A load sensing valve with EQA technology also allows instant and seamless switching between regenerative mode and double acting mode, as well as between gravity lowering and power down. The added speed and precision improves productivity, enabling more work to be done in a given time. (www.parker.com)
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions demonstrated the power of its Service PLUS program. This 'total solution' simplifies the workflow across every discipline of a fluid power professional's value chain; from engineering to logistics, manufacturing to the aftermarket. In addition, design engineers working in power transmission, motion control and fluid power witnessed the next generation of solutions for hydraulic and pneumatic applications, including the latest developments in rotary, linear and static sealing. The Service PLUS program has been well received and tremendously successful in helping customers simplify their inventory processes through smarter custom logistics, incorporating 'ready-to-use' assembled components and enhanced support for aftermarket requirements, with customized seal kits and packaging, according to Fluid Power Segment Manager, Americas, Joe Woods. Bosch Rexroth
Product highlights include new technologies aimed to improve performance in skid steer loaders, compact track loaders, and drivetrain solutions. The A21 VG 35/45 is a compact double pump for closed-circuit applications featuring an efficient back-to-back design that allows for installation in application with very limited mounting space. The new A2FM bent-axis hydraulic motors which are up to 26 percent more compact than their predecessors and are notable for their high power density. The new A30VG, an axial piston variable pump, suitable for wheel and travel drives, enables short engineering times for hydrostatic travel drives thanks to its full compatibility with Rexroth's mobile electronics range and standard software for the EP control concept. The new radial piston motors (MCR5T, MCR6T) are shorter, stronger and more efficient with 20 percent shorter installation length, 10 percent higher starting torque and high travel speeds with low diesel rotational speeds. (www.boschrexroth.com)
