While the old adage of “Two out of three ain’t bad” might be true for MLB hitters, or weather forecasters; it however can be disastrous when it comes to making thorough gearbox selections. When specifying gear reducers, one must consider not merely the mechanical ratings adjusted for service factor, but also consider thermal limitations, and overhung load ratings.
Two specific types of pinion are available: the PK1 pinion is fitted to the splined output shaft of the gearbox. The PM1 pinion, on the other hand, is designed for gearboxes with a flange output shaft. The pinions are also available in four different modules and with different numbers of teeth.
