WD Bearing Group recently launched a new joint venture specializing in the R&D and production of precision angular contact ball bearings with a precision level above P4. These high-precision bearings are designed for use in machine tool spindles, industrial robot reducers, construction machinery travel reducers, and compressors.
Voith air compressors are technological leaders and, especially in the truck sector, also represent a significant milestone on the road to more environmentally friendly mobility. Due to their two-stage compression with intermediate cooling, they greatly outperform single-stage air compressors in delivery mode. And this is with much lower energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Routine refurbishment of important rotating machinery is vital for continued, reliable operation but if the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) fails to deliver an optimum service, what other options are available? For one oil company in Nigeria, issues with a gas compressor following an overhaul led to the maintenance team looking for an alternative solution. Sulzer was then selected to support the oil company, not only for its extensive experience in this equipment, but also its local service center that offered a tailored approach.
Burckhardt Compression recently provided a full range of compressor and auxiliary services for four marine vessels that were undergoing their five-year service at a dry dock in Korea. All four vessels were under a long-term service agreement (LTSA) with Burckhardt Compression, which made it possible for the scope and expected spare parts to be prepared well ahead of time. The service was completed within three and a half months, despite the challenges of hot and rainy weather as well as a confined work area with simultaneous work ongoing by different teams.
Burckhardt Compression, a leading manufacturer of reciprocating compressors and a full-service provider, has received an exclusive Certificate of Apprenticeship from the U.S. Department of Labor to train and certify Laby Compressor Technicians. This recognition underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing the skills of its workforce and contributing to the broader industry.
As of January 2023, Arkos Field Services, acquired by Burckhardt Compression in 2019, is integrated with Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. Customers benefit from combined knowledge, expertise and unrivalled solutions for reciprocating compressors and other equipment from one provider. The integration of the two brands streamlines business processes to provide easy access and a solutions-driven customer experience.

Siemens is extending its Sinamics G120C-series of drives to include three new frame sizes for high power output ranges. The new frame sizes cover the power output range from 22 to 132 kilowatts (kW), making the series available from 0.55 kW to 132 kW. Standard features of the series include a compact design with optional filter, long cable lengths, full integration into the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal and simple control and commissioning.
The Houston Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia (TPS) began as a 200-person Turbomachinery Symposium on the campus of Texas A&M University in 1972. The Pump Symposium was founded in 1984 and joined with Turbo for a singular event in 2011. TPS is a vital industry event that offers a forum for the exchange of ideas between rotating equipment engineers and technicians worldwide. For nearly 50 years, TPS is known for its impact on turbomachinery, pump, oil & gas, petrochemical, power, aerospace, chemical, and water industries through two pathways: the technical program and the exhibition.
