Power Transmission Engineering Highlights Latest Bearing Technology
August 1, 2017
Power Transmission Engineering has your in-depth knowledge and expertise covered in terms of bearings, motors, drives, gears and motion control technologies. Here are some of the latest articles on bearing innovations:
A Chicago-area bakery was replacing
the tray support bearings in its ovens
on a reactionary basis. Their weekly
inspection cycle was resulting in two
mechanics spending an average of 20
labor hours per week to replace failed
bearings. The premature bearing failures
were caused by a combination of
the high heat and humidity in the ovens,
resulting in lubrication failure and
contamination. When BDI was asked
to recommend a solution, the bakery
was averaging one month of bearing
life in this application.
It's no secret that conveyor systems are the primary market for gearmotors, and so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that gearmotor manufacturers are looking for ways to cater to that market's needs. From Brother's new VFDs to Siemens' Simotics S-1FG1, a lot of the new solutions in the industry have their own unique quirks, but all fall into a few common veins.
