Members of the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) will gather at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, CO., for the 2024 Industry Summit on October 24-26. This year’s program—“Broadening Horizons. Elevating Excellence.”—will do just that, expand participant’s knowledge of leading-edge trends and solutions for tackling industry challenges, along with opportunities to network with peers.

AD is proud to announce the appointment of two new members joining the Industrial & Safety – U.S. Divisional Board: Alex Hodge, CEO of Horizon Distribution and Matt Onofrio, president of GT Midwest, effective June 2024. The Divisional Board, a vital aspect of AD's member-owned and governed structure, plays a critical role in shaping strategies and helping to direct the future for each respective business segment.

AD is reporting a record result for 2023 in owner/member sales, which increased 5 percent over prior year to $78.9 billion.

Purchases by member companies from AD supplier partners were $19.8 billion. Net distributions to owner/members were $1.4 billion.

The importance of standardization work is often underestimated or given little attention. For companies, it is often an important basis for innovation and competitiveness. It is therefore important to inspire young talents for standardization. Andre Thuswaldner, vice president of Eurotrans, described this topic vividly:

What are Standards?

Standards are documents that provide rules, guidelines and requirements for the design, production, use or performance of materials, products, processes, services or persons. They are the result of voluntary national, European and international standardization activities. The use of standards is voluntary. Standards only become binding if they are the subject of contracts between parties, for example between vendor and buyer, or if compliance with them is mandatory by law.

The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) has named Chris Bursack the 32nd recipient of its Warren Pike Award for lifetime achievement in the power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) industry. He received the accolade during the PTDA 2023 Industry Summit on October 20 in Amelia Island, FL.

As the U.S. member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) seeks comments by June 30 on a draft proposal for a new ISO technical committee on mechanical energy storage technology.

Salim Haffar, deputy general manager at I-MAK, was reelected as president of EUROTRANS in 2022. This is Haffar’s third term in this role. PTE recently caught up with Haffar to discuss the evolution of EUROTRANS, the focus of the International Drive Conference at Hannover Messe and the current state of I-MAK’s gearbox business in Turkey.
