Forest City Gear recently announced the promotion of Amy Sovina to quality assurance manager. Sovina has worked at Forest City Gear since 1994, starting as a CNC machine operator, then moving on to gear hobbing technician, gear inspector, and most recently customer quality engineer.
KMC Controls is delighted and saddened to announce the retirement of Chris Kreuter, an innovator whose career spanned more than 50 years with the company. Chris' career started 52 years ago when his father, Ken Kreuter, founded Kreuter Manufacturing - today called KMC Controls.

Atlanta Gear Works has announced a new working agreement with Jim McClain, general manager of McClain Industrial Technologies, Inc., DBA MiTek, a manufacturers’ rep that will help the gearbox repair and manufacturing firm spread its 34-year reputation in pulp and paper to the steel and aluminum industries.

The Timken Company has reached an agreement to acquire GGB Bearing Technology (GGB), a division of Enpro, Industries (including exclusive negotiations with respect to the French operations of GGB). Founded in 1899, GGB serves a variety of diverse customers, markets, geographies and applications with a product portfolio that complements existing Timken industry-leading engineered bearing solutions. GGB revenue is expected to be around $200 million in fiscal year 2022.
Sulzer has partnered with CELLiCON to scale up its manufacturing technology for nano structured cellulose – a highly sustainable, plant-based alternative to conventional polymers. The technology slashes the traditionally high costs and footprint associated with nanocellulose, allowing it to be scaled and used as a building block for a wide variety of everyday products, from textiles to glues.
Velo3D, Inc. has announced Hermeus, a company developing hypersonic aircraft for defense and commercial applications, has acquired an original Sapphire and a large-format Sapphire XC that is designed for high-volume production. The printers, both of which will be calibrated for Inconel 718, will be used to build parts for Hermeus’ Chimera engine and Quarterhorse aircraft.
SKF and ABB have entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the possibilities for a collaboration in the automation of manufacturing processes. The MoU was signed at ABB’s Robotics Experience Center in Västerås, Sweden, by SKF CEO Rickard Gustafson and ABB CEO Björn Rosengren.
