SKF has entered into a collaboration that will combine Quaker Houghton’s industrial oils and application expertise with SKF RecondOil’s Double Separation Technology (DST) to enable the industry to more efficiently utilize its resources by reducing the unsustainable linear of use of oil. The circular use of oil will also help reduce the industry’s environmental footprint through a reduction in CO2 emissions, lessen the amount of neat cutting oil purchased, and reduce handling and disposal costs whilst providing significant performance improvements.

IMPCO Machine Tools, Lansing, Mich., received orders for five microfinishing systems to be delivered to the OEM plants in Mexico and the USA. Order total is $3.5 million. Each robot-loaded system is designed to microfinish the bearing diameter to millionths of an inch (1 µm) on a family of 300 mm rotor shafts used in the drivetrain of electric vehicles.

Velo3D, Inc. recently announced that Pratt & Whitney has acquired an end-to-end solution from Velo3D to evaluate the Sapphire printer for manufacturing production jet engine components. This is the first Sapphire printer to be located at Pratt & Whitney; it previously utilized Velo3D’s contract manufacturer network to produce printed and finished parts.
