Stock Drive Products/Sterling Instrument (SDP/SI), a
Designatronics, Inc. company, completed and passed its recertification AS9100:D and ISO 9001:2015
quality system audit. The audit, conducted by Intertek over a 5-day period, certifies SDP/SI’s quality
management system conforms to AS and ISO standards.
Bega Special Tools introduces a portable multi-purpose induction heater on the North American market. The MF Quick-Heater 3.0-3.5 kW can be used for mounting, dismounting and pre-heating purposes. Weighing less than 8 kg and fitting in a small carrying case, this easy-to-use but powerful tool is just plugged into the mains 230 V. It can be used in difficult circumstances where other systems are impossible to operate, for instance where there is little space to work in or where no open fire is permitted. The heater’s flexible inductors are ideal for a large variety of parts with a maximum diameter of 120 mm. Application examples can be found in all types of industries.
From 2022 to 2023, the global geared motors and industrial gears market is expected to experience a significant slowdown in growth. Interact Analysis' preliminary research shows that global sales of geared motors and industrial gears in 2023 are expected to be around $12.7 billion, a slight decrease compared with 2022.
Sumitomo Drive Technologies is expanding its range of precision gear products and upgrading its ECY series with higher torque and a plug & play drive for motor connection. The ECY series comprises high-precision shaft gears, used for example for surface machining in dental technology or in collaborative robots (cobots). Thanks to their internal cylindrical roller bearings, the gear units provide both high rigidity and higher performance in a smaller design envelope.
GT and PTE Presents "Ask the Expert Live," taking place October 17-18 during the Motion + Power Technology Expo at Huntington Place in Detroit.
This year, rather than focusing on gear basics or the more technical aspects of gear design and manufacturing, we’ve decided to address some of the issues that you’ve told us are most significant to you—the things you’re struggling with, the questions you’re hoping to find answers for, and the troubles that keep you up at night.
The AD Bearings & Power Transmission community gathered in
Charleston, South Carolina from August 15 to 17 for the group’s annual Network Meeting,
strengthening connections and collaborating for mutual growth.
Forest City Gear hosted a tour for students of the Gleason Gear School on September 20, 2023. For more than 70 years, Gleason Cutting Tools' school has led seminars in Rockford, IL on math, gear theory, and the required tooling, manufacture, and inspection of gears.
Motion + Power Technology (MPT) show brings together the gear and power transmission industries for a unique balance of education, new technologies and networking opportunities. The show takes place October 17-19,2023 in Detroit.
The Houston Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia (TPS), still organized by the Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M University, will gather for the 52nd Turbomachinery and 39th Pump Symposium annual event from September 26–28, at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston.
The loaded tooth contact analysis (LTCA) is crucial in understanding the deformation of gears and its impact on various factors such as noise generation, contact patterns, contact shocks, and torque variations. With the contact analysis feature in KISSsoft, users can calculate tooth contact under specific torque and speed levels, thereby assessing the performance of gears and gearboxes.
