From May 30 to June 2, Partner Country Portugal at Hannover Messe showcases innovative companies that specialize in developing proven, sophisticated high-tech solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, big data, cloud computing, cyber-physical systems, Industrial Internet of Things, intelligent energy solutions, sensors, and smart materials.
Portuguese companies, many of which are small or medium-sized, are well-versed in Industrie 4.0 concepts that drive industrial transformation. They provide solutions to industries ranging from automotive and transport, food, and medical devices to molds and plastics, packaging and pharmaceuticals.
For example, Portuguese providers offer smart manufacturing execution solutions that monitor processes in real-time. These form part of next-generation software developed for the industry, helping managers make better decisions based on instant information gathered from the shop floor.
Thanks to digitalization, small companies make more and more breakthroughs in fields that were once the exclusive preserve of big industrial players. With disruptive ideas and distinctive technologies, Portuguese startups punch above their weight and have built an ecosystem that is home to established unicorns such as Farfetch, Outsystems, Talkdesk, Feedzai, Remote, Unbabel, and Sword Health as well as newcomers like Defined.ai and Veniam. Partner Country Portugal is a unique opportunity for global companies to partner with these entrepreneurs to advance research and development projects.
Portugal also stands out at the scientific level: the European Union chose the country to install one of eight new European supercomputers for research. This supercomputer, which becomes operational in 2022, provides researchers with access to more and better processing power for projects in areas such as medicine and artificial intelligence.
The Portugal Digital Ecosystems Pavilion is located in Hall 5 at Hannover Messe 2022.
