Applied Motion Products Breaks Ground on Corporate Headquarters
August 12, 2020
Applied Motion Products , the motion control and automation solutions provider located in central California, broke ground for its new corporate headquarters on August 6, marking another important milestone in the construction phase of the new building. After delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event took place at the site of the new building in the Madrone Business Park in Morgan Hill, CA. Board members and staff from Applied Motion Products and parent company Shanghai Moons Electric were on hand, along with developers Toeniskoetter, architects Eaton Hall, representatives from the City of Morgan Hill, and local press.
The COVID-19 pandemic cast a mixed shadow over the event, with face coverings and social distancing in effect for the necessarily smaller group of attendees. In contrast to this stood the surge of business opportunities in packaging, automated sanitization equipment, and similar pandemic-related automation projects in which the company has been involved. The occasion marked a unique moment in the history of the company and enthusiasm was high as stakeholders surveyed the construction in progress and listened to remarks by CEO and President, Don Macleod.
The new 47,000 sq. ft. headquarters will be completed in two phases and will consolidate all Applied Motion Products operations into one location. The larger facility will accommodate growth in the design and manufacture of motion control products including integrated step motors, servo motors, drives and controls, to meet growing demand while developing new innovations for the different industries the company serves. Pandemic-related delays notwithstanding, the construction project continues on track with site grading completed and utilities being installed.
During the construction period, normal operations will continue in the current Watsonville, CA headquarters without interruption.
