Voith Hosts Successful Open House in Houston
November 19, 2019
Voith recently held an open house to allow its customers and vendors to learn more about its new Houston gearbox workshop, located at 6213 W. Sam Houston Parkway North.
The workshop’s primary focus is repair, retrofits and overhauls of gearboxes, torque converters, Vorecons and fluid couplings and to service both Voith and non-Voith products.
The open house and service summit event, held just one day before the 2019 Turbomachinery & Pump Symposium, also in Houston, was attended by nearly 100 customers and vendors.
Those visitors toured the 32,000-square-foot facility, met with Voith experts and learned more about Voith’s products and services through several interactive, digital experiences around the workshop’s showroom.
A team of 30 Voith experts hosted multiple presentations, allowing customers and vendors to learn about a variety of topics including:
•Voith’s power, oil and gas product overview
•The AeroMaXX gearbox •The EcoStart hydraulic starter •ACIDA torque and vibration analysis •Vocus remote access repair service •Turbo Marketplace •Voith’s Webshop •The workshop’s capabilities •Torque converter and gearbox retrofit and overhaul options
“We were pleased to see so many of our good friends and customers attend our open house, and it was a great opportunity for them to take a walk around our new workshop and see all that we are capable of at this new site,” said Shawn Calhoun, senior vice president CMO Americas.
Event attendees also had the opportunity to interactively experience Voith’s Asset Performance Management integrated through augmented reality (AR) via a demonstration featuring the VoreconNX variable speed drive. Guests saw firsthand how AR may be used to access information such as technical documents, video training guides and more while using this technology.
The new facility houses the workshop as well as office space for the Turbo team. The site selection was made based on its Houston location, which is considered the hub of the North American power, oil and gas industry (POG). A Houston location is an ideal site for Voith to offer the industry local expertise, support and services.
Beyond functioning as the base of operations for Voith’s team of expert technicians, the space is also the primary location for our Houston-based POG support team, housing personnel serving sales, project management, application engineering, design engineering, customer service and field service functions.
