Ohio Transmission Corporation has announced the acquisition of Crimson Electric, Inc., a company located in South Carolina. Founded in 1954, Crimson Electric is one of the leading electrical apparatus service centers in the Carolinas. The company specializes in the repair and testing of AC/DC motors, servo motors, pumps and gear reducers. Headquartered in Duncan, S.C., between Greenville and Spartanburg, the company’s facility includes state-of-the-art equipment for the comprehensive repair, engineering and testing of equipment.
“The southeastern United States is a rapidly growing industrial market, and Crimson Electric’s service focus provides a great opportunity to expand OTC’s geographic and product areas to better serve all of our customers,” said Phil Derrow, president and CEO of Ohio Transmission Corporation. “We have wanted to include electric motor repair in our product portfolio for many years and are excited to be able to do so with such a great company that has a long history of providing top-notch service to help their customers achieve success.”
Crimson Electric will continue to operate under the same name and with current local management. The company will become a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, which provides technical sales and service for industrial automation, motion control, fluid power, pumps, spray finishing, sealant and adhesive application, and power transmission systems and products. Crimson Electric owner, Charles Wilson, and his wife, Debbie, will continue to stay with the company through the transition of ownership.
With this acquisition, Ohio Transmission Corporation now has 35 locations throughout the South, Southeast, Midwest and Northeast regions, along with 14 service shops. The addition of Crimson Electric’s associates will expand Ohio Transmission Corporation’s existing workforce of more than 900 employees.
“The addition of Crimson Electric provides a great advantage to the OTP family as we expand our capabilities in electro-mechanical apparatus repair and service,” said Rob Webb, president of OTP Industrial Products. “Crimson Electric’s associates are highly trained and accustomed to working in a focused, customer-driven climate. Our customers continue to look to us for full-service solutions, and Crimson Electric can take care of everything from electrical apparatus repair to machine work, and they have an extensive product inventory of motors, parts, gear reducers and controls.”
As a division of OTP Industrial Solutions, Crimson Electric will have access to OTC’s vast product and service offerings and support resources. The acquisition provides significant growth opportunities for the associates of all of the companies and will provide customers with a more comprehensive set of technical solutions.
“As part of the OTP family, Crimson Electric will offer more resources, products and services to our customers,” said Charles Wilson. “Our team, which is staying on, brings a wealth of knowledge to the motor repair industry by reducing interruption of operations for our customers, reducing downtime and providing value-added services and products.”
