Nord Gear Corporation is now assembling its line of Maxxdrive large industrial gear drives at the Waunakee, Wisconsin plant. With a building expansion recently complete, Nord has additional space to allow for assembly, testing and service of the large industrial gearboxes. Design and engineering staff trained specifically on the Maxxdrive product line work out of the Waunakee facility in order to provide knowledgeable and prompt support. Local assembly also allows for faster product delivery and more product flexibility.
Each Maxxdrive is built by a highly trained assembly group and each unit is thoroughly tested prior to shipping. The testing entails running the gearbox until steady state temperature is achieved. During this time conformance checks are made on noise and the temperature at each bearing to ensure proper clearance and lubrication.
These gear units offer a unique combination of flexibility and durability for the most demanding high torque applications. Maxxdrive can be assembled as either a right angle bevel or parallel shaft gearbox ranging from 3 hp - 2,950 hp and 224,000 lb-in to 2,196,000 lb-in of torque. With dedicated product specialists on staff, Nord can offer various drive packages such as swing bases; motor mounting flanges and couplings; and forced lubrication systems designed for specific applications.
