Motion Industries recently announced that its Service Center in Pensacola, Florida, has achieved Timken Bearing Certified Shop "Platinum" Level for 2016. Timken performed the audit at the shop located at 3131 West Navy Blvd. "Overall, we are very impressed with what we have seen at the Motion Industries Pensacola Gearbox Repair Facility and its continued effort to improve reliability, bearing best practices, and overall service for its customers," said Jim Sliwinski, Timken service engineer, who was one of the auditors. "It is a distinguished accomplishment for a shop to be recognized as a Platinum Level certified facility."
David A. Novak, Jr., Timken director of service engineering, said, "Certification is quite valuable because it demonstrates that the facility understands and follows rigorous standards of storage, installation, setting and maintenance of bearings, which are critical in getting the highest performance and life out of bearings."
Kendall Lambert, Motion Industries' vice president/general manager of the territory, applauded the shop employees' efforts as well. He said, "I would like to congratulate the Pensacola Service Center personnel and management for the Timken Bearing Certified Shop 'Platinum' Level Certification. The hard work and dedication by the team to achieve this prestigious Platinum Level Certification demonstrates the commitment to Precision Maintenance and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM). Achieving Gold Level Certification in the first year of the program, and now achieving the highest Platinum Level offered by Timken in the second year is outstanding; above and beyond performance. A lot of hard work, education, training and dedication to the process is a daily commitment to deliver results and services required by our customers. Again, what an outstanding accomplishment by our Pensacola Service Center team."
"This is a great example of what hard work, focus, and perseverance can achieve," added Tony Cefalu, Motion Industries’ senior vice president, hose and rubber, shops, and service centers. "Our Pensacola shop's accomplishment reflects Motion's ongoing commitment to quality service."
According to Timken, for maintenance organizations and service shops, the "Timken Bearing Certified" designation demonstrates to customers that a shop abides by the highest standards in bearing service. For in-house shops, the Bearing Certified designation confirms that a shop has solid processes and the appropriate equipment in place to ensure proper bearing maintenance. Before employees are trained, a Timken engineer will conduct a pre-audit. It’s a rigorous evaluation that documents the quality of the processes and equipment a facility has in place to store, remove, install and maintain bearings. After the training, the Timken engineer returns for the post-training audit. Depending on how well the facility scores, it can earn one of several Bearing Certified levels as well as receive recommendations for any improvements.
