Sensata Technologies, a manufacturer of sensors and controls, recently announced that its plant in Baoying, China has earned the Jiangsu Quality Award, a prestigious award for performance excellence. Sensata was one of 15 industrial companies that received the award across the Jiangsu Province and the only one in Baoying County, where Sensata's Baoying plant is located. The award is organized by the Jiangsu Province Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision and uses the same metrics as the U.S. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. More than 200 companies across Jiangsu Province competed for this year's award.
The award recognizes businesses with high levels of quality and quality management, innovation and use of advanced technology as demonstrated through a thorough application, audit and management evaluation process. During a four-step competition that took eight months, Sensata earned the highest scores in three of four categories during the on-site audit phase. In addition, the competition included a 210-page report and management presentation which was also praised by judges for the award.
Commenting on the award, Richard Dane, senior vice president of Sensata's global operations, said, "Sensata strives to achieve the level of excellence that this award was created to recognize at every manufacturing site. It takes hard work, attention to detail and deployment of a quality mindset throughout an organization to attain the exemplary standards that the Baoying team has clearly demonstrated."
