"ISO 9001:2000 certification is a significant achievement for New Way Air Bearings," says Mike Fernald, lead auditor of United Registrar Services. "Everyone involved in the audit was committed to the New Way Air Bearings processes and to continually improving on their internal and external customer requirements. The result is a solid foundation for continuous improvement through data use and analysis."
New Way began this effort in November 2007 by compiling all existing internal processes and enacting a detailed Quality Management System to conform to the ISO standards. Several internal process audits were performed before the official audit. "We've always had a strict quality control system, but conformance to ISO 9001:2000 standards required the implementation of some procedural changes," says Lou Insalaco, quality manager at New Way. "We identified areas for improvement and streamlined processes. There is no doubt that the additional structure we have added as part of this process provides the framework we need to continuously improve our performance across the organization."
"This is another major milestone on our company's quality roadmap," says Nick Hackett, president and CEO of New Way Air Bearings. "There has been a fundamental commitment to quality here since New Way's inception. But this certification process, and the hard work over the 12-month period it took to achieve it, demonstrates the commitment we have to our customers."
