Offered in a variety of sizes and types, SKF rolling bearings with integral seals provide solutions to protect against contaminants and retain lubricants. According to the company’s press release, rolling bearings with integral seals provide the capability to simplify bearing arrangements and to “drop-in” sealed bearings within existing envelopes. These bearings include shields, low-friction and contact types manufactured from nitrile rubber and selected based on friction and operating speed requirements.
The “greased for life” pre-lubricated versions boast additional performance and service benefits by avoiding problems associated with the lubrication process. These problems include mixing greases or introducing contaminants. The pre-lubricated types with seals on both sides prevent over- or under-greasing, offer grease retention, and minimize maintenance requirements.
Integral seals can be incorporated in a wide range of types including deep groove, angular contact and self-aligning ball bearings as well as cylindrical, needle, spherical and toroidal roller bearings. Custom sealing solutions can be developed for particular application processes.
