Heidenhains New Interface Box Changes Analog Encoder Signals to Digital
April 8, 2006
The EIB external interface box from Heidenhain Corp. changes a 1 Vpp encoder signal to an EnDat 2.2 bidirectional digital interface.
According to the companys press release, the interface box converts sine/cosine signals to EnDat 2.2 (a digital bi-directional interface for encoders that updates information stored on an encoder). With the box, incremental enocders with 1Vpp signals can now be used as part of an absolute system, which is useful for motion control applications utilizing incremental and absolute measuring systems.
This interpolation and digitizing electronics on the EIB interface platform is 16,384-fold. Input frequency is <400 kHz.
