The new TurboSyn friction turbo coupling from Voith Turbo is designed for the operation of mills.
The basic design of the TurboSyn is similar to that of a standard Voith fluid coupling. According to the companys press release, its inner wheel consists of pivoting segments that are attached to the hub in a rotary fashion. When a certain speed has been achieved, the segments swivel radially to the outside and create a friction connection between the coupling shell and the inner wheel. As a result, the differing speeds of the outer and inner part are synchronized and a direct connection between input and output is realized.
In addition, this couplings does not require a control system to protect against overload. Size remains unchanged and the components correspond to that of a standard coupling.
